1991

Legacy & Roots

Progressive Tractor & Implement Co. (PTI) was founded in Louisiana with the acquisition of two respected Case IH dealerships: Dixie Tractor Co. in Opelousas and G&S Implement in Ville Platte.

From the beginning, the organization was built on strong industry relationships, operational discipline, and a long-term commitment to the agricultural communities it served.

One of the founders of G&S Implement, the late Luke Soileau, was the father of PTI’s current owner, Thomas L. Soileau. The original Ville Platte location remains active today and now serves as PTI’s training center, IT department, and trucking division—symbolizing both our legacy and our continued investment in operational infrastructure.

1993

Strengthening the Foundation

PTI expanded its South Louisiana footprint with the acquisition of Eunice Implement, reinforcing its long-term commitment to serving agricultural producers across the region.

1996–2010

Building Statewide Leadership

PTI continued expanding across Louisiana through the acquisition of:

Huval Tractor (Cecilia)
Gremillion, Inc. (New Roads)
Louisiana Farm Power (Opelousas)
Scott Tractor (Bunkie, Lacassine, Jeanerette)

This period established PTI as one of Louisiana’s leading agricultural equipment organizations.

1997–2006

Leadership Ownership Transition

Long-standing employees Thomas Soileau, O’Neal Higginbotham, and Eddie Villemarette became shareholders and ultimately sole owners in 2006—reflecting a culture built on internal leadership and long-term commitment.

Following the retirement of Higginbotham in 2018 and Villemarette in 2023, Thomas L. Soileau became sole owner and continues to guide the organization’s disciplined growth.

2014

Expanding Beyond Borders

PTI expanded into North Louisiana and Southeast Arkansas through the acquisition of Scott Tractor locations in:

Jonesville
Tallulah
Rayville
Lake Providence (LA)
McGehee (AR)

PTI also acquired Broussard Cane in Parks, Louisiana.

This expansion marked the beginning of PTI’s multi-state presence.

2020

Entering the Construction Market

PTI launched its Construction Division in Lafayette, Louisiana, expanding beyond agriculture to support contractors and infrastructure projects across the region.

September 2021

Diversifying into Powersports

PTI entered the powersports industry with the acquisition of a long-standing Honda dealership in Ville Platte that had served the community for more than 80 years.

This expansion introduced:

Honda Motorcycles
ATVs
Side-by-Sides
Bad Boy Mowers

January 2022

Expanding the Delta Presence
