Our History
Progressive Tractor & Implement Co. or PTI as it is also known was founded in 1991 with the purchase of Dixie Tractor Co. of Opelousas and G&S Implement of Ville Platte, two long-term Case IH Dealerships by Eddie Soileau and Tom Cason.
Two years later in 1993 PTI added a Eunice location with the purchase of Eunice Implement. From 1996 to 2010 the company continued to grow through acquisition purchasing of Huval Tractor of Cecilia, Gremillion, Inc. of New Roads, Louisiana Farm Power of Opelousas, and Scott Tractor in Bunkie, Lacassine and Jeanerette.
In 1997, PTI began a succession plan which ultimately resulted in the current ownership landscape between Thomas Soileau and Eddie Villemarette. The company has continued a fast pace of growth with a major expansion to North Louisiana and SE Arkansas in 2014 with the acquisition of 5 additional dealerships from Scott Tractor, which added locations in Jonesville, Tallulah, Rayville, Lake Providence and McGehee, AR. The same year PTI acquired Broussard Cane in Parks, LA and 2 years later opened a dealership in Shreveport.
All dealerships to this point were Ag related but in January 2020 PTI added the Case (CE) Construction equipment line, which brought us into the construction equipment industry. PTI now services the Case CE line in its Lafayette, Lacassine, and Eunice locations. In addition to the Case brand, PTI’s Lafayette location offers several lines of general tool & small equipment rentals.
In September 2021 PTI acquired the Boco’s Engine Service, a business that has been a bellwether in the Ville Platte, LA community for over 80 years from the Stromer family. This dealership acquisition brought PTI into the powersports industry with Honda Motorcycles, ATVs, and Side by Sides and Badboy mowers.
2022 brought additional stores in Arkansas from an acquisition with Heritage Ag of Arkansas. The newest stores located in Altheimer, England, Stuttgart, Carlisle, and DeWitt make PTI’s presence substantial in the Arkansas Agriculture Equipment business with a total of 6 dealerships.
With continued focus on service and quality, 2023 will bring the addition of the Kubota line to the Stuttgart location and a new training facility for service technicians in Ville Platte.
